If you breakdown without policy maybe you should think again about people stopping to help you. The AA have results of a survey, that would first tell you that older drivers are more likely to stop to help with a breakdown than younger drivers, but there are many other demographics to this quandary.
The AA have discovered that 12% of drivers would not stop no matter what, although when this information is broken down, only 10% of over 65’s would definitely not stop where 18% of women and 16% of under 25’s wouldn’t.
It is not just about ages, but also where you live with Londoners being the worst when it comes to Samaritan help, where Scotland, North East and Northern Ireland the most likely to stop.
The main reason for not stopping is deemed to be personal safety with many drivers believing that most people would now have a mobile phone and would make that necessary phone call. It is interesting how older drivers are more likely to stop, even though they could be the demographic with the greatest chance of being a victim of a con trick.
Of course purchasing an AA breakdown cover policy, is one way to be assured that there will be someone stopping to assist you no matter where you are, that will be a good Samaritan.
